IRC Launches Self Generators’ Registration Programme
The Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) Dominica’s electricity regulator has started a nationwide programme to register all generators in Dominica. The register of self generators is being compiled by the IRC in a bid to add to current statistics on electricity capacity and usage as well as to help in monitoring and improving safety standards in the sector. The register will include anyone who owns a generator whether fuel-based or renewable. IRC To Conduct Technical Audit of Domlec
Following a spate of nationwide blackouts in September 2009, the Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) publicly pledged to investigate the events with a view towards identifying the root causes and proposing solutions. The Commission has since issued an Administrative Order to the electricity company that it must supply the necessary data and assistance to the IRC in order for the audit to be performed. IRC to Complete First Phase of Outreach In Castle Bruce
The Independent Regulatory Commission will begin evaluation of information gathered during its outreach programme, following the final meeting of phase one in Castle Bruce. The IRC is inviting electricity customers from the area to the Castle Bruce Primary School on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. The outreach programme began in Dublanc in June 2009, and continued throughout the summer months in St. Joseph, Vieille Case, Marigot, La Plaine and Canefield.
