Final Week of Rate Review Consultations Begins Across Dominica

Dominica’s electricity Rate Review has entered its final week of public consultations, with the Independent Regulatory Commission Dominica urging continued participation ahead of key submission deadlines.

Over the past several weeks, the consultation process has moved through communities and media platforms, allowing residents, businesses, and stakeholders to engage directly with the proposed tariff changes. As the process now approaches its closing stage, the focus shifts to final outreach activities and the submission of public feedback.

Executive Director Justinn Kase acknowledged the level of engagement so far, thanking those who have contributed through meetings and discussions. “I take this opportunity to first thank all members of the public and stakeholders that have participated thus far,” he said.

The final set of consultations includes a mix of media engagement and in-person meetings designed to reach as many individuals as possible. These include appearances on national radio programmes, as well as a public meeting in Grand Bay and a concluding session in La Plaine.

The Commission has emphasized that these final engagements represent an important opportunity for those who have not yet participated to become involved, ask questions, and better understand how the proposed changes may affect them.

Following the close of consultations on April 30, members of the public will have until May 8 to submit their initial comments. These submissions will form the basis of the Commission’s first formal response, scheduled for May 18.

“I again stress that we encourage members of the public… to attend and also participate on our last set of outreach programs,” Kase added.

After the first round of responses is issued, a second consultation window will allow additional feedback before the process moves toward its conclusion at the end of May. Final decisions on the revised tariff structure are expected in early June.

As the timeline narrows, the current stage stands as the final opportunity for public input. The discussions and submissions made over the coming days will play a direct role in shaping how electricity is priced and managed across Dominica.
