The next stage of Dominica’s electricity Rate Review is now officially underway following the release of the first response document from the consultation process conducted throughout April. The Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) confirmed that the document has now been issued to the public and stakeholders for review.
The publication marks one of the most important milestones in the ongoing review of DOMLEC’s proposed revised tariff regime, as it brings together concerns, questions, and feedback raised during weeks of consultations across Dominica.
Executive Director Justinn Kase described the release as part of the Commission’s commitment to maintaining public access to the process. “The first response document has been issued today from the consultations on the revised tariff regime for DOMLEC,” he announced.
According to Kase, the document outlines what was captured during the consultation period and serves as a basis for continued engagement before final decisions are made. While the first response has now been released, the consultation window itself remains open for additional submissions.
“The period for receiving comments and questions has not ended,” Kase stressed, noting that members of the public and stakeholders still have time to submit further input before the next deadline.
The Commission is also encouraging individuals to carefully review the published responses and raise any additional concerns or questions that may arise after reading the material.
“I urge members of the public and stakeholders to read the first response,” Kase said, adding that the IRC will continue giving comments and questions “serious attention” before final approval of the revised tariff structure.
The latest release represents a transition from consultation into clarification and refinement, as the IRC and DOMLEC continue evaluating whether adjustments to the proposed tariff framework may still be necessary.
With another round of public input still open, the process now enters a critical period leading toward the final stages of the Rate Review.
