
The outreach programme began in Dublanc in June 2009, and continued throughout the summer months in St. Joseph, Vieille Case, Marigot, La Plaine and Canefield. The series of nationwide community meetings has been conducted by the Public & Consumer Relations Division of the IRC. The objective was to clarify the scope and responsibilities of the IRC as a regulator as well as to seek valuable feedback from consumers.
The IRC will use the information and analysis from the outreach effort to:

- provide meaningful advice and direction to DOMLEC and the government
- formulate relevant rules and regulations for the sector
- provide more of the information customers need regarding their rights and responsibilities as electricity consumers.

The IRC will continue to inform the public about its role through planned speaking engagements with community groups and organisations and the he regulator welcomes invitations from such groups.
