The Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) Dominica’s electricity regulator will hold a consultation this week on its most recent Consultative Document “Integrated Resource Plan for Electricity – Demand Forecast”. Key stakeholders in the fields of investment, banking and generation among others have been invited to discuss DOMLECs Forecasting Methodology on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. at the Public Service Training Centre.
Following consultation with the IRC, DOMLEC prepared a draft Integrated Resource Plan which states that it uses a combination of historical data and market research to develop its forecast, gathering data from agencies such as the Physical Planning Corporation, Invest Dominica and the national budget. It also consults with large customers to garner information on investment plans.
The draft IRP was reviewed by the IRC and made public for comment in the form of a Consultative Document on this website or from the IRC office in Roseau. The upcoming consultation is focused on producing a final document by July 15, 2009.
“IRC Consultations are not talk shops. Decisions will be made at this consultation after careful scrutiny of the demand forecast process proposed. These decisions will be incorporated into the final IRP document. We are looking forward to constructive informed debate from representatives of the key sectors we have targeted.”
Lancelot McCaskey – Executive Director
The Consultative Document was published on June 15, 2009. The closure date for responses received at the consultation or by the Commission’s office (website, letter, email, fax, telephone) is July 6, 2009. The Commission will hand down its decision by July 15, 2009.
